Are your fees covered by OHIP?



Psychotherapy





The term psychotherapy is used to identify mental health treatment using psychological approaches rather than medical approaches.


While psychotherapy and social work are regulated health professions in Ontario, unfortunately, they are not covered under OHIP. However, the majority of extended health benefits/employer benefits, do cover psychotherapy and social work services (typically in the health and dental insurance package).


Subsequently, I encourage you to speak with your insurance provider about counselling services provided by a registered social worker to determine your eligibility and approved rates of coverage.



OCSWSSW





I have been a member of the OCSWSSW for the last (20 years). AS a

RSW: Registered Social Worker. Being an RSW means a therapist is a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).


This means that:

  1. Most insurance companies will cover you to see them.
  2. They meet the ethical and professional development requirements of the College.

SLIDING SCALE FEES





Due to the high demand for my services, I do not offer a sliding scale at this time.


However, if you feel that my ‘services’ are what you really want, I can arrange for (1) of my ‘supervised students’ to work with you directly, in order to accommodate your financial circumstances. Please email or call me directly to inquire about this (sliding scale option) or special fee arrangement, should you be interested in this option,


(Please note) that due to the high demand, I can NOT guarantee that a counselling spot will be immediately available & therefore you may be placed onto a waiting list for service.




Fees are payable at the beginning or end of each session unless we make other arrangements. Requests for additional documentation or reports are charged at my usual hourly rate.



cancellation process



I require (24 hours notice) for the cancellation of an appointment. If you cancel for any reason within less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged the full rate of the session.



CONFIDENTIALity





My professional code of ethics, under the (Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers), outlines that all information shared with me is ‘confidential’ and it, therefore, will not be communicated, directly or indirectly, to anyone without your informed and written consent.


Confidentiality is, therefore, very important to me & all information obtained during our session will be kept private. Subsequently, just prior to you entering into our ‘counselling agreement’ your consent will be obtained & then we will proceed. But the law states that there are a few (rare exceptions) to (confidentiality) which we will discuss during our initial consultation. Therefore, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly.
